It\u2019s also a wonderful human encounter.<br\/>The site is located on private property managed by the Medina family, who welcome visitors with warmth and simplicity and work to preserve this little corner of paradise.<br\/>As soon as you arrive, you quickly realize that you\u2019re not in a typical tourist park. It\u2019s getting there.<br\/>After leaving the main road, you\u2019ll need to travel several kilometers on a dirt road, the condition of which depends heavily on rainfall.<br\/>During the rainy season, a 4\u00d74 vehicle or local transportation is often the wisest choice.<br\/>Once you arrive, the main trail is relatively short.<br\/>The sound of the waterfall accompanies you for the last few meters before the landscape suddenly opens up to reveal this immense waterfall. <br\/><br\/>Photography enthusiasts will be in heaven.<br\/>Between the cliffs, the lush vegetation, the giant ferns, and the tropical birds, every turn offers a new viewpoint.<br\/>This is definitely an excursion that requires a full day.<\/p>\n\n<h4 id=\"h-bon-a-savoir-0\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Good to Know<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Travel time from Casa Fofo: up to 1 hour and 50 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The last few kilometers on the trail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 4\u00d74 is recommended depending on the season.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recommended local guide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exercise extreme caution near the cliffs and the upper sections of the waterfall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casafofo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6.2-Cascada-la-Gloria.jpg?resize=1024%2C682&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31612\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.5014783391181385;width:415px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casafofo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6.2-Cascada-la-Gloria.jpg?resize=1024%2C682&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casafofo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6.2-Cascada-la-Gloria.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casafofo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6.2-Cascada-la-Gloria.jpg?resize=768%2C511&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/casafofo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6.2-Cascada-la-Gloria.jpg?w=1537&amp;ssl=1 1537w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 id=\"h-el-retiro-une-riviere-ou-l-on-aime-revenir\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>El Retiro, a river we love to return to<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Travel time from Casa Fofo: about 55 to 70 minutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though El Retiro is located further toward R\u00edo Hato, it fully deserves its place on this list.<br\/>Unlike La Gloria, which impresses with its height, El Retiro charms visitors above all with its atmosphere.<br\/><br\/>People come here to spend a few hours by the water. You can park on the property of a Panamanian family who owns the El Retiro waterfall. Admission is $2 per person.<br\/>The water is clear and a pleasant temperature, and there\u2019s a light breeze and natural shaded areas. The bottom is sandy and pebbly. The water is shallow enough for children and deep enough to jump from the top of the waterfall. <br\/>During the dry season, many Panamanian families come here to cool off.<br\/>Yet the place retains a very peaceful atmosphere.<br\/>You can easily spend half a day here swimming, picnicking, and relaxing.<br\/>As always, it\u2019s important to stay vigilant. It all depends on what you&#8217;re looking for. <\/p>\n\n<h3 id=\"h-quelques-conseils-avant-de-partir\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Few Tips Before You Go<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before leaving Casa Fofo, always remember to check the weather. In the mountains, a beautiful morning can quickly give way to a tropical downpour. <br\/><br\/>Don\u2019t forget:<br\/>\u2714 good walking shoes;<br\/>\u2714 a swimsuit;<br\/>\u2714 a lightweight towel;<br\/>\u2714 plenty of water;<br\/>\u2714 mosquito repellent;<br\/>\u2714 some small bills for any entrance fees or services offered by locals.<br\/><br\/>And most importantly\u2026<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please respect the area.
